6th grade parents:
Athletics
Information
If your child has signed up for Athletics at DMS he/she will need
to obtain a physical before school starts. You can obtain the
proper forms by going to
http://www.southlakecarroll.edu . Click on "Athletics" and
then click on "UIL Participation and Physical Form". You can print
this form for your doctor to fill out. CISD will be offering
physicals for $25 at the following dates and times.
Girls - May
7 @ CHS 4:30pm-7:30pm
Boys - May 8
@ CHS 4:30pm-7:30pm
Students who
signed up for Physical Education will not need a physical.
Dr. Moses will
be mailing the following information to your home during the
month of May:

Attention 5th grade parents:
Grade 6
Accelerated Math
The process
for nominating students who were not enrolled in the
Fifth Grade Accelerated Math program ended April 4, 2008. The district
will test nominated students on
May 10, 2008 using an achievement and abilities
test. Parents will be notified of the time and location of the
testing by Dr. Moses’ office.
*There will
be no students tested for accelerated mathematics if the paper
work was not submitted and obtained by Dr. Moses’ office on or
before April 4th at 4:30 p.m.
Accelerated
Math Information Meeting will be held on May 21st, EIS Cafeteria,
from 6:30-7:30.
This meeting
is for parents of students entering 6th Grade Accelerated Math. If
your child participated in testing you will have received
confirmation, from Dr. Moses, regarding your child's placement by
the above meeting date. If your child is currently in 5th Grade
Accelerated Math they automatically are placed in 6th Grade
Accelerated Math unless your child chooses not to participate in
the program.
Fifth grade
Growth and Development Class
May 7 @ 4PM is the parent
preview of the Growth and Development film.
May 14 9th period ALL 5th grade students will attend Growth
and Development class
Boys and Girls will be in
separate rooms.

The Texas
Education Agency has developed TAKS Study Guides to help
students strengthen the TEKS-based skills that are taught in
class and tested on TAKS. These guides are designed for
students to use on their own at home or for students and
families to work through together. There are 3 ways to obtain
these optional study guides:

Go to the
Campus Test Scores page and follow
the link to the TEA Study Guide page. From that page,
study guides in pdf format can be printed in their entirety
or used online. When working through the study guide
online, parents can choose to print only selected pages.

Order Study
guides by phone. This information can be found on the
same TAKS Study Guide page.

The TEA has also announced the official launch

interactive resources and practice questions with instant
feedback. They are free and require no download.

News Flash |
Eubanks Band shines at Sandy Lake!

On Thursday, April 24, the EIS band
participated in the
38th Annual Band Fun-Fest at the
Sandy Lake Amusement Park.
The band was one of 20 "Beginner" bands that performed
for three judges for ratings of either a I
(Superior), II (Excellent) or III (Good). The EIS band
was the largest band to compete (130 musicians) and
was one of only seven schools that received a Superior
Rating (from all three judges)!!! Way to go
Eubanks Band. We are proud of you. |

Eubanks book club enjoyed a visit
with Suzanne Crowley, author of The Very
Ordered Existence of Merilee
Marvelous on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Battle Party
On Tuesday, April 15, 101 students including 77 revved up
readers and students who competed in the final battle were
treated to a "beach brunch" battle party complete with
breakfast from Chick-Fil-A and prizes galore.
