Campus
Update – Dr.
Last year’s parent survey indicated there was a
lack of communication or education between parents and faculty. Dragon Dialogue was formed and opened to the
OUES public. It is hosted by Anne Davis
on the last Wednesday of the month from 12:45 to 1:45. The purpose of this forum is to open a two way street of communication from parents to teachers.
Items discussed have included Meet the Teacher
improvements, Reading Buddies feedback, traditional GOAL conferences, tardies & classroom interruptions.
Math initiative kicked off with monthly meetings
to communicate math vocabulary and strategies.
Six teachers from OUES will be visiting Frisco ISD where they are
achieving 90% commended in math.
Ø
Budget
Update – Becky McDaniel, Treasurer
Numbers look great! Gift Wrap numbers are still out. Approximately will net $10K.
Carroll Education Foundation – Gina Ferris & Kacy Hankins presented OUES with 2 checks for CEF tickets
sales from previous 2 years in the amounts of $170 and $120. Planning for the Culinary Celebration will
begin in January. An auction item from
each school will be sold with proceeds returning to the school.
Ø
Brick
Sales Update and Vote – Tina Tedeschi
We didn’t sell as many bricks as projected. The project will require grading. Blooming Colors has provided a quote of $10K
to grade and install. This is an “off
season” bid with substantially reduced costs built in for a January or February
installation. Currently we’ve
collected/sold $5K. We’ll need to ask
the PTO for $5K more to begin the installation.
There will be a “last call” brick sale in January. Angela Weisgarber motioned for $5K to be
approved. Motion seconded by Erika
Gardiner. All approved.
Ø
Weather
Bug Vote – Angela Weisgarber, President
The motion for funds to be allocated for the
Weather Bug not to exceed $3700 was made by Angela Weisgarber. Lisa Holderness seconded motion. All approved.
