MINUTES

Ø     Welcome                                              Angela Weisgarber

Fall Festival was a huge success.  Thank you Tonya Meyer, Karen Malone and D’Lissa Cunningham.

Ø     Campus Update                                   Dr. Andra Barton

Math is a big focus for OUES.  We would like to align first through fourth grade problem solving strategies and common vocabulary.  Per Mrs. Grice, the fourth grade math benchmark showed 100% improvement.  Benchmarks will be given again in January with TAKS in February.

The October TBEC reception in Austin honored and recognized eight of our teachers.

Ø     Christmas is for Children                     Sally Ruff

This year OUES will have grade level items to fill the food pantries like the Battered Women’s Shelter.  There has been a tremendous response from the classrooms.

Brick Sales – We need 275 – 300 bricks to break even.  To date, we’ve only sold 200 and will need to ask the PTO for $5,000 to install.  The committee is considering Blooming Colors due to cost.  A January/February install will be at a better “off season” cost.

Ø     Budget Update                                     Becky McDaniel, Treasurer

Per Angela Weisgarber, no more fundraising this year.  Disbursement requests will go out in Monday folders in January.

Mrs. McCammon received a $5K CEF grant to install the Weather Bug at OUES.  Total installation will require the PTO General membership’s approval of approximately $3,700.  This will be a one time fee.  There are no on-going costs or annual fees.  Install is scheduled for November 14th.  The PTO membership will vote at the next General meeting.  Brenda Skansi inquired how the additional costs will be covered if the PTO does not vote in favor.  Dr. Barton indicated the money will come from her administrative budget.  In the short term, she will pay from the General Operating Fund and request the PTO to reimburse.

Ø     Fundraising Update                              Karen Malone & Tonya Meyer, VP of Fundraising

o       Gift Wrap

$18K sold with 55% back to OUES – approximately $10K.  Sally Foster product liked better but customer service on Innisbrook is better.  14% of OUES population ordered.  Members questioned the need to have two fundraisers if we do so well on the fall fundraiser.  A suggestion was made to sell gift wrap every other year.

o       Fall Festival

Thanks for supporting the new idea of a nostalgic family carnival.  $50K (net) raised.  Suggest we expand the hours from 4 to 6.  1000 wrist bands ordered and sold out.  The ferris wheel from Iowa was a huge hit.

o       Approval of Minutes for September 2007             Jennifer Winter, Secretary

Tonya Meyer motioned to approve minutes.  Lisa Holderness seconded the motion.  All in favor.

Ø     Adjourn

Meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
