Beginning school year 2011-2012, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be launching State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), the new assessments that will replace the current TAKS test.  The new tests have been designed to be more rigorous and to measure a child's performance, as well as, their academic growth.

The Teaching and Learning Department has been working directly with teachers  to make the necessary changes to the curriculum and assist campuses through this transition by conducting STAAR informational meetings. Parent/community meetings will also be held this fall to ensure that all parents are aware of the changes that will take place regarding future testing and graduation requirements.

Beginning with the class of 2015, STAAR will affect the graduation plan for all CISD students. Therefore, current 9^th graders will be the first class to graduate under the new state accountability system.
