Carroll ISD Earns Exemplary Rating
Carroll ISD is a K-12 public school system located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The 21-square-mile district consists of 11 schools serving more than 7,800 students and 1,000 employees. The district is the largest school district in the state of Texas to earn the top rating of "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency.
TEA announced in August school ratings for the 2006-2007 school year. All eleven campuses have been rated "Exemplary."
The state of Texas does not rank public schools, but they do rate them based on performance on standardized tests, attendance, and drop out rates. CISD has a zero percent drop out rate, a 97 percent attendance rate and consistently scores above the state and national averages on assessments. The state holds districts to a high standard of 90 percent passing to obtain the Exemplary rating. In addition, each subgroup must receive a 90 percent for a district or campus to earn the top rating.
Five of CISD's schools
have been named National
Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon Schools include Rockenbaugh Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Carroll Middle School and Carroll Senior High School.
Eight of 11 campuses were named to the Texas Business Education Coalition's 2007 Honor Roll. These include Carroll Senior High, Carroll High School, Dawson Middle School, Eubanks Intermediate School, Old Union Elementary School, Carroll Elementary School, Johnson Elementary School and Rockenbaugh Elementary School.
Since becoming a 5A district in 2002,
CISD won
second place in the Lone Star Cup twice and earned a third place finish this past year. The district has also won the 5A state football
championship
twice, the 5A Girls Cross County Championship and the 5A Boys Golf State Championship. Carroll is home to the defending state championship Accounting team, a state champion Robotics team and a nationally recognized Forensics team.
Approximately 98 percent of Carroll’s
seniors go on to attend a college or university after graduation.
The Class of 2007 earned more than $11 million in scholarships to colleges and universities across the nation.
More than 90 percent of Carroll students take a college
entrance exam, with composite scores on the SAT and ACT that exceed
state and national averages.
