Second grade is off to a great start! We started the year by spending some time to get to know one another. What great friends we have!
In Language Arts, we kicked off our Writer’s Workshop and Reader’s Workshop. We are also taking books back and forth from home and school. We have taken some time to learn about what strong readers do, how to be a productive reading partner, and having conversations about books that make us think.
In math, we have spent the last several weeks on graphing and place value. We are also practicing our math facts. 
Ahoy, mates! What is more fun that learning about maps?? We enjoyed our map unit this past six weeks and ended it with a real live treasure hunt. CES was taken over by pirates that day! It was a wonderful success. Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped with this day.
