This past Saturday, UTA hosted the Southwest Regional FTC Robotics Competition! There were 24 teams competing from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Norway! (Yes, Norway!) It was the first time Carroll has participated in this type of competition, and it was made possible with the help of funding from a Carroll Education Foundation grant! Our team has been working hard since before Christmas to design, build, and program a robot to work both autonomously and by remote control, to gather balls and shoot them into various goals. Our team did an amazing job! They ended up as Finalists in the competition! In true Dragon Spirit, we also had the best audience turnout and cheering section, earning Carroll the "Motivation Award"!

Congratulations to the Dragon wrestlers for a strong finish at the UIL State meet in Austin this past weekend. The team sent four wrestlers and finished a surprising 13th overall in the tournament. Texas has one true state tournament that is not broken into classifications which adds to this high finish. Headlining the accomplishments were Sr. Kody Weaver placing 3rd at 285 and Jr. Dominic Cruciani placing 6th at 189. Jr. Dillon Swacker and Sr. Nick Barz finished in the top 12, both winning a match on the first day of competition. These wrestlers could not have accomplished this without their teammates pushing them in practice everyday and supporting them down in Austin. This season has truly been a TEAM effort. Thank you to everyone who has supported the team this year and we look forward to many top 10 and state championship finishes in the coming years.
