Points of Pride

Carroll ISD Earns Exemplary Rating

Carroll ISD is a K-12 public school system located in the heart of the DFW Metroplex. The 21-square-mile district consists of 11 schools serving more than 7,900 students and 1,000 employees. The district is rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency. In fact, CISD is the largest Exemplary school district in the state of Texas.

All Eleven Campuses Earn Exemplary Ratings

TEA announced in August school ratings for the 2010-2011 school year. All of the district's 11 campuses have been rated "Exemplary."
The state of Texas does not rank public schools, but they do rate them based on performance on standardized tests, attendance, and drop out rates. CISD has a zero percent drop out rate, a 97 percent attendance rate and consistently scores above the state and national averages on assessments. The state holds districts to a high standard of 90 percent passing to obtain the Exemplary rating. In addition, each subgroup must receive a 90 percent for a district or campus to earn the top rating.

Five CISD Campuses Earn Blue Ribbon Awards

Five of CISD's schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon Schools include Rockenbaugh Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Carroll Middle School and Carroll Senior High School.

Academic, Athletic, & Fine Arts Programs Named Champions

Since becoming a 5A district in 2002, CISD won second place in the Lone Star Cup twice and earned a third place finish this past year. The district has also won the 5A state football championship three out of the last five years, the 5A Girls Cross County Championship twice and the 5A Boys and Girls Golf State Championship. Carroll is home to the defending state championship Accounting team, a state champion Robotics team and a nationally recognized Forensics team. The Dragons also own 5A boys' soccer and boys' swimming state titles.

Carroll Students Stand Out Among A Crowd

Approximately 95 percent of Carroll’s seniors go on to attend a college or university after graduation. The Class of 2009 earned more than $18 million in scholarships to colleges and universities across the nation.

More than 90 percent of Carroll students take a college entrance exam, with composite scores on the SAT and ACT that exceed state and national averages. Carroll offers a full array of Advanced Placement and Honors courses, a challenging curriculum for gifted and talented students and special programs for students with special needs.
