Bus Safety Handbook

The Transportation Department is dedicated to safely transporting the children of this community and is proud to serve Carroll Independent School District. Please contact us if you have any questions pertaining to ridership. We can be reached from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Facilities

Our beautiful Transportation facility is located behind the Dragon Stadium, at 1075 South Kimball. The facility is home to our day-to-day operations as well as a mechanic’s bay to service our buses and a wash bay to keep our buses clean. Below are some pictures of our building. We welcome visitors to come in and take a look, we are very proud of our home.

Bus Eligibility/Passes

Carroll ISD provides bus transportation to all students.  A fee of $215 will be charged for students residing within two miles of their home campus. Families with more than one rider will pay $215 for the first child and $165 for each additional child, with a maximum cap of $450.

A semester pay plan is available for interested families. This fee equates to only $1.22 per day to ride the school bus, which is the safest possible transportation for CISD students.

The two-mile calculation is done by a state-of-the-art GPS-based program, measuring from the public street opposite the campus flag pole to the student's residence.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Infofinderi route times will be adjusted in the first two weeks of school. Notification will be sent home to parents.

Parents

Parents are integral to our children and the transportation experience. Support your student by encouraging him or her to be at the bus stop on time. We suggest that each student be at their stop at least 5 minutes early. Remind your child that safety is our first priority, and following the rider rules will contribute to that end.

Transportation FAQs

Is my home within the two-mile limit?
How do I find out what bus my child will ride?
The same bus goes through my neighborhood twice. Can my 5th grader ride with my 2nd grader?
What buses do 9th graders ride?
Who is that other adult that is riding the bus with my child?
What happens to my child when they misbehave on the bus?
What do I do when my child wants to ride home with a friend?
When my child leaves an item on the school bus, where is your lost and found located?

What happens to my child when they misbehave on the bus?
The student handbook is on the CISD Webpage under Quick Links/Handbooks, and lists the student management plan. In short, there are different levels of offenses and consequences. The driver will cite the student for the offense, deliver the citation to the principal of the student’s campus, and the principal will choose a course of action.

How do I find out what bus my child will ride? Is my home within the two-mile limit?
Bus Stop information, including whether a stop is pay or free, can be found by clicking on this link: www.infofinderi.com. Click on Texas, Carroll ISD, and enter your address. Also each school campus will have their bus routes, including bus numbers, stop times and stop locations.

The same bus goes through my neighborhood twice. Can my 5th grader ride with my 2nd grader?
Sorry, no. To properly balance the routes, and for proper tracking, we cannot mix these groups. Kindergarten-fourth grades ride the first route, fifth-eighth ride the second route.

Which buses do 9th graders ride?
9th graders ride High School buses. We have eight buses that cover the city in six different zones, picking up grades 9-12 and delivering them to their campuses.

Who is that other adult that is riding the bus with my child?
That is a bus driver. We have substitute drivers who learn the routes by riding along whenever possible, or to assist with student management. We also have trainers to ride along for periodic driver evaluation.

What do I do when my child wants to ride home with a friend?
This will be allowed only on an occasional basis. Write your child a note stating his/her name, the friend’s name, and the bus # that he/she will be taking home. The student should take the note to the school office.

When my child leaves an item on the school bus, where is your lost and found located?
Our drivers check their buses after each route; any items left on bus will be brought to the front of the bus so that it can be claimed by the student. If it is not claimed in a few days, the driver will bring the item to the dispatcher’s office to a lost and found box. Items in this box remain there until the end of the school year, then are donated to charity.
