Dear Parents,
 
Welcome to Dawson Middle School. We are so pleased you’ve chosen to entrust us with your child and want to assure you that your decision will lead to a positive experience in the adolescent years.
 
This is Dawson’s tenth year of educating the middle-level learner, and we are excited about the opportunity to meet seventh and eighth grade students where they are, capture their hearts, and advance their minds. We are committed to educating the whole child and to looking out for the welfare of our students socially, emotionally, and academically.
 
Dawson Middle School has a strong academic tradition. We are proud that through the combined efforts of students, teachers, and parents, DMS has maintained an Exemplary rating with the Texas Education Agency for the past sixyears and has also been selected as a TBEC Honor Roll School for five consecutive years. As of last year, we’re also thrilled to be recognized by the Texas Middle School Association as a “National School to Watch,” the organization’s top recognition currently held by only eleven middle schools in the state of Texas.
 
Human beings are relational, and this is especially true for adolescents. We know that building relationships with students is the key to capturing their hearts. The relationship between student and parent is paramount, but other key relationships are the one between student and teacher and the relationship between parent and teacher. I want to thank you for the assistance I am confident you will provide throughout this year as a critical partner in our commitment to foster the relationships which will enable us to help our students develop both socially and academically.
 
There is a spirit that is Dawson, and we look forward to seeing both you and your student capture that spirit and become a part of what makes Dawson Middle School such a special place.
