  • 2017 Trustee Election

    Carroll ISD's School Board has seven Trustees. As provided in CISD Policy BBB (Local), Trustees serve three-year terms and are elected by position with terms staggering a three-year cycle.

    The 2017 General Election is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2017.

    The election will decide the following Places on the CISD Board of Trustees:

    · Place 1, currently held by Michelle Moore (three-year term)

    · Place 2, currently held by Bradley Taylor (three-year term)

    · Place 3, currently held by Sheri Mills (three-year term)

    · Place 6, currently held by Todd Carlton (unexpired two-year term) 

    Carroll ISD participates in joint elections with other entities and contracts with the Tarrant County Elections Office to administer the election. Registered voters may vote early by personal appearance at any of the Tarrant County early voting locations, but may only vote at the assigned polling location for their precinct on the actual election day. Voters may verify their registration and polling locations at the Tarrant County Elections Office website at:

    Residents may also early vote by mail via application submitted to the Tarrant County Elections Office.

    The last day to register to vote in the May 6, 2017 General Election is Thursday, April 6, 2017.

    Candidates are required to file an application for a place on the ballot by the filing deadline. Candidates are also required to file campaign finance reports per Election Code, as provided in Policy BBA (Legal).

    First Day to File - Wednesday, January 18, 2017

    The first day under the State Election calendar to file an application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    School Board Trustee (Education Code, Chapter 11)

    §  Residence -- 1 year in state and 6 months in school district prior to filing deadline (Texas Elec. Code, Section 141.001(a); Brown v. Patterson, 609 SW 2nd 287)

    §  Age -- 18 years

    §  Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline (see HB 484 information/link below)

    House Bill 484 amends Election Code Section 141.001 to provide a new general rule (for most offices) that a candidate must be a registered voter of the territory elected from as of the filing deadline (unless outside law conflicts).

    Where to File:

    Election Filings will be received by the CISD Financial Services Department during regular business hours at the CISD Administration Center, 2400 N. Carroll Avenue, Southlake, TX  76092. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. CISD is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. As an alternative to filing documents in person or mail, filings will also be received via fax at 817-949-8277 or via email attachment to

    Last Day To File - Friday, February 17, 2017

    The last day to file for place on the ballot and for a political subdivision to order the general election is Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5 p.m.

    The CISD Financial Services will be open until 5 p.m. on the last filing date. 


    Early Voting Dates:

    Early voting by personal appearance will occur from Monday, April 24, 2017 to Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Southlake Town Hall.

    Canvassing of election must occur between May 9 and May 17, 2017.


    Trustees Elected to Places 1, 2, 3 and 6 will be administered the oath of office at the June 5, 2017 School Board meeting.
