Trustees Call Special Meeting To Consider Hiring Recommendations

Trustees have called a special meeting for Thursday, July 10 to consider personnel recommendations. School officials said employees have until the 45th day before the first day of school to resign their positions. The special meeting will allow the CISD Administration the opportunity to approve hirings before the 45-day deadline so the applicants can then resign in their home districts without penalty. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Cabinet Meeting Room of the Carroll ISD Administration Center, 3051 Dove Road in Grapevine. A meeting agenda can be found at www.southlakecarroll.edu/brdagenda.htm.

The next regular meeting of the Carroll School Board is Monday, July 14. Open session begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Cabinet Meeting Room of the CISD Administration Center. A complete agenda can be found on the District's website later this week.

Back To School Information Available

Carroll ISD's Back to School website includes all the important information parents and students need to be ready for the first day of school. Information includes New Student Registrations, Meet the Teacher events, Curriculum Nights, School Supply Lists and more. Additional information will be posted to the Back to School page as August approaches.

New For 2008-2009
Parents should keep in mind that all preschool through fourth-grade students will dismiss early the first five days of the school year rather than six like in the past. Trustees reduced the number of early dismissal days by one in an effort to address parent concerns and input. The early dismissal days are used for important baseline reading and math assessments.

CISD Trustees have eliminated the student activity fee for athletes in grades 7-12. No longer will families have to pay to have their children participate in athletic programs. No changes were made to the existing parking and bus transportation fees.

School supply lists have been changed this year. In an effort to accommodate parent requests, CISD has streamlined the process to individualize lists for each school and grade level. This will help eliminate the purchase of uniform items at campuses that did not use everything in the supply packs. A copy of each school and grade level supply list is available on the Back-To-School web link.

XTO Presents CEF's Culinary Celebration 2008

Each year, the Carroll Education Foundation hosts an annual Culinary Celebration to benefit the students and staff of Carroll ISD. The Culinary Celebration is one of the premier events in Southlake, hosting fine food, cocktails, music and a variety of bidding opportunities through the silent and live auctions. All proceeds go toward innovative teaching grants and scholarships for seniors throughout the district. Mark your calendars for the 2008 Culinary Celebration, presented by XTO, Sunday, October 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Hyatt Regency DFW.

Thanks to the generosity of the CISD community and neighboring sponsors, CEF was able to award 36 grants and 10 $1,500 scholarships during 2007. CEF hopes to see an even more successful event in 2008 and your help is needed. Please pass along this information to anyone you know who might wish to donate to this wonderful cause!

This is a great way for businesses of all sizes to gain greater exposure through donations and/or sponsorships. CEF will be seeking the following over the next several months: Event Sponsors, Auction Donations, Chefs and Volunteers.
