Elementary Language Arts Program
Kindergarten - Grade Four
CISD offers a balanced literacy program which integrates the teaching of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Daily classroom activities include direct instruction in basic skills and strategies which ensure that students will become competent readers and writers.
Intermediate And Middle School Language Arts Program
Grades Five - Eight
CISD requires language arts courses for all students in grades five through eight. Instructional emphasis is placed on developing critical reading strategies, composition development with emphasis on language concepts and sentence structure, literary analysis, and research.

High School Language Arts Program
CISD students continue to build skills in English in the district's On-Level, Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement and Gifted and Talented AP English courses. Students are expected to build skills in written composition and critical readings as they prepare for the rigors of college and careers.
Required Summer Reading Program For 2011
Because reading is both enriching and pleasurable and provides immeasurable benefit to students, the Carroll Independent School District is requiring students to take time over the summer to read. Click here for details >
