General Music provides opportunities for students to explore a variety of music and continue to developmusical skills and appreciation through level-appropriate activities and studies. The exploration of
music adds to students’ sense of self-worth and provides enjoyment that can last a lifetime.Music activities may include singing a variety of songs, playing in instrumental ensembles with pitched
and non-pitched instruments, playing recorders, moving to music, performing, learning about famouscomposers and musical styles, listening to a variety of music, understanding cultural diversity through
music, developing skills in reading treble and bass clef notation, reading rhythmic notation, recognizinginstruments of the orchestra by sight and sound, and creating original melodic and rhythmic
compositions.
