State Assessment

STAAR
State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness
|
|
Beginning school year 2011-2012, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be launching State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), the new assessments that will replace the current TAKS test. The new tests have been designed to be more rigorous and to measure a child's performance, as well as, their academic growth.
The Curriculum & Instruction Department has been working directly with teachers to make the necessary changes to the curriculum and assist campuses through this transition by conducting STAAR informational meetings. Parent/community meetings will also be held this fall to ensure that all parents are aware of the changes that will take place regarding future testing and graduation requirements.
STAAR 2012 - Test Calendar Dates
Beginning with the class of 2015, STAAR will affect the graduation plan for all CISD students. Therefore, current 9th graders will be the first class to graduate under the new state accountability system.

TAKS (Test of Academic Knowledge & Skills)
The statewide assessment program (primarily the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, or TAKS) has been instituted to assess public school students on what they have learned in regard to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the curricula standards of Texas.
The TAKS results and reports are also used to determine district and school accountability ratings for both state and federal accountability programs. All students will be administered the appropriate form of the TAKS; students may not be exempted from the state assessments. The following statewide tests are administered in Carroll ISD:
