Dear JES family and friends,

Our character trait for February is JOY defined as finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go our way. This value may be the most difficult to teach. Often we are happy when things go our way and not happy when they don’t. But this isn’t joy.  JOY goes much deeper than that. It comes from maturity and understanding that there’s something more important than just the ups and downs of what happens every day. Joy is a choice. Joy is contagious. Of the many lessons children learn, one of the most important is that they alone determine their attitude about life. They make choices and decide how they will react to the unexpected “curves” that life may throw them.

Terra Nova testing for second and fourth grades was completed before Spring Break . The results will be sent home in the report cards.
Orientation for our fourth graders going to Durham Intermediate next fall is on May 15. All fourth graders will travel to DIS for a tour and lunch. More information will be coming soon! There is a parent orientation on May 14^th at 6 PM in Durham Intermediate’s cafeteria.
