This year, Johnson Elementary will be participating in the
Souper Bowl of Caring by having a food drive during Super Bowl week: Monday, January 28th – Friday, February 1st.  During that week, please bring non-perishable, canned food items to school and place them in our collection boxes. The collection will then be donated directly to local food banks.

Although this is a national “campaign” designed to engage organizations in giving and service and awareness of poverty, it does provide our school  an opportunity to actually collect goods for our local hunger relief agencies (like the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank).  So far, over 14,000 groups across the country will participate in this Souper Bowl of Caring, which is expected to generate over $8 million worth of food to help people in need.

You will probably see the Souper Bowl of Caring promoted on the local TV stations, as well as the local newspapers.  In addition, Albertsons, Thom Thumb, Kroger and Central Market will be offering pre-packaged food bags as part of this food drive.

Since this is JES’s first year to participate – we have set a fairly achievable goal of 300 canned goods.  If you would like more information, the website is www.souperbowl.org
(JES is already registered as a participant!).

 Thank you for your help.
