Although this is a national “campaign” designed to engage organizations in giving and service and awareness of poverty, it does provide our school an opportunity to actually collect goods for our local hunger relief agencies (like the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank). So far, over 14,000 groups across the country will participate in this Souper Bowl of Caring, which is expected to generate over $8 million worth of food to help people in need. You will probably see the Souper Bowl of Caring promoted on the local TV stations, as well as the local newspapers. In addition, Albertsons, Thom Thumb, Kroger and Central Market will be offering pre-packaged food bags as part of this food drive.
Since this is JES’s first year to participate – we have set a fairly
achievable goal of 300
