Texas 2010-2011 School Report Card for JES
Below you will find a link to the State of Texas 2010-11School Report Card for Johnson Elementary. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. It is available to all parents or guardians of every child enrolled in the public schools. The report provides information concerning student performance as well as information concerning expenditures, average class size, and student/teacher ratios.
The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law. The report for our school may or may not have all the information described because the information presented depends on whether the school is an elementary, middle, or high school.
The School Report Cards can be found on the internet at:
With your support, Johnson Elementary School received an exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency. In addition, our campus made the TBEC Honor Roll for the sixth consecutive year, and we were again designated a NCEA Higher Performing School. Thank you for your continued partnership with JES.
Updated Traffic Plan (Begins October 3, 2011)
Our new bus-loop entrance will be open beginning this Monday, October 3rd. Signs will be posted at the entrances and exits for both car-rider AND bus-rider loops. An updated map of the JES Traffic Plan will be posted to the JES Website as soon as it is available.
Please read the following information carefully:
Exiting the Car-Rider Loop (THIS IS A CHANGE!)
1. If you are in the lane closest to the building – you will exit to the right and follow the loop to Carroll Ave. Please do not enter the bus-loop or the parking lot – you must exit onto Carroll Ave.
2. If you are in the lane closest to the parking lot – you will exit to the left and follow the loop to Carroll Ave. (this is the same as the exit procedure currently in place).
Entering the Car-Rider Loop (PROCEDURE REMAINS THE SAME)
All parents will enter the car-rider loop from North Carroll Avenue. Those coming from the north will turn left into the far left lane and will continue around the loop to drop off or pick up their child. Parents entering from the south will turn right into the far right lane and continue around the loop to drop off or pick up their child.
The third lane (middle lane) will remain vacant to help ensure safe passage for students. Parents are asked to pull forward all the way to the front of the loop to help ensure smooth traffic flow and student safety – please follow directions of JES staff on duty. JES staff members will be present to assist parent drivers during pick-up and drop-off times.
Window Name Card (PROCEDURE REMAINS THE SAME)
In order to expedite the car-rider loop at dismissal time, it is critical that you have a name card in your window. You MUST have something with your child's first and last name in your car window closest to the curb:
1. If you are in the lane closest to the building - the passenger window.
2. If you are in the lane closest to the parking lot - the driver window.
3. If you did not receive a name card to put in your window, please create something (on 8.5 x 11paper) before pickup.
The JES campus does not have a safe zone for parents to park and physically walk to the campus doors to drop-off or pick up their children. Therefore, you must enter the car-rider loop when dropping off and picking your child. JES staff members will be present to assist parent drivers during pick-up and drop-off times.
Should parents need to enter the JES campus at any time, including arrival and dismissal times, please park in the visitor parking area (see parking information below) and check-in at the front office.
PARKING INFORMATION
Visitor Parking is available on the North end of the front-lot. The Visitor Parking entrance is located on N. Carroll Ave, between the bus-loop entrance and exit. Please observe all signs and safety procedures by using the cross walk as you approach the building. In addition, please do not walk into the bus loop while school buses are loading and unloading. When visiting the JES campus, remember to park in designated visitor-parking areas only.
Keep in mind that the entire bus-loop is designated as a fire lane; therefore, parking is not allowed in the bus loop.

Pet Partners!
Mrs. Johnston, our Counselor, has important information to share about our school dog, Texas! Please click here on TEXAS.
Our P.E. teachers are asking everyone to collect "Labels for Education." Through this program, schools are able to earn points, then redeem them for school equipment. This is a great way to help our school by saving UPC's.
Our goal this year is 8,000 points. Our P.E. teachers hope to redeem these points for equipment for the gym.
Available for download are10 point, 5 point, and 1 point collection sheets, as well as the list of eligible products(there are new products added this year) with instructions included on the sheets. Once a sheet is completed, please deposit it in the Campbell's Canister outside the gym. Individual UPC's may also be dropped into the canister.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Wendy Bellenger at wendy.bellenger@southlakecarroll.edu.In addition, we have learned that if you have a Kroger or Tom Thumb Rewards card, it may be registered at www.elabelsforeducation.comas an additional way for JES to earn points.
Thank you for your support of JES and our P.E. program.
Reminders
Check in Requirement
Please remember to always check in at the front visitor entrance if you need to proceed past the front office area. This is for the safety of all students.
In addition, the front doors to the JES campus will be locked promptly at 4:30 p.m. each afternoon. If your child is participating in an after school activity past 4:30 p.m., please confirm the pick-up location with your child's teacher. Thank you for your continued efforts to maintain a safe and secure campus at all times.
Car-Rider Drop-off and Pick-up
Thank you for your continued support as we refine our arrival and dismissal procedures in the new car-rider loop. Our Johnson staff will continue to serve you and our students to ensure a safe and efficient process. We worked with the Southlake DPS to assess the process and provide input.
In addition to the procedures outlined above ("Updated Traffic Plan - Oct. 3rd"), please continue to follow the procedures below:
1. Please place a card with your car rider's name in the window of your vehicle.
2. Please do not change lanes once you have entered the drive-thru loop.
3. The cafeteria doors will be locked at the conclusion of morning drop-off, which is typically 8:00 a.m. If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., please escort him/her into the building using the visitor parking entrance located at the north end of the campus. Please do not leave your child at the cafeteria door unless you see a JES staff member.
4. At the conclusion of afternoon pick-up, the cafeteria doors will be locked at 3:10 p.m. Therefore, your child must be checked out at the visitor entrance if you arrive to pick-up after 3:10 p.m. This procedure also applies if your child is involved in after-school activities, such as tutoring. In this case, a teacher will meet you at the visitor entrance.
THANK YOU for honoring the JES procedures for student drop-off and pick-up. Your efforts make our car rider lines run smoothly and creates a safe environment for all.
