About our Teacher

Mary Duffy graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. This is her second at Rockenbaugh and she knows our computers now inside and out! When Mrs Duffy is not running around trying to solve all of Rockenbaugh’s computer problems, he enjoys playing tennis and spending time with husband Patrick and sons Connor (17) and Daniel (13).

Mission

Computers are the wave of the future and we don’t plan on missing the ride. As technology has evolved from a sparsely used tool of yesterday to a universal tool of today and tomorrow, it is our goal to enrich each child’s life with fundamental technology beginnings.  The intent is to provide a fun and enjoyable learning environment that ignites creativity and sparks interest.   Keyboarding, ergonomics, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, internet use/safety and ethical uses of technology are the skills to be introduced throughout the school year.  Rockenbaugh is consistent with current state guidelines governing technology as exemplified when planning class activities and lessons demonstrated in the computer lab and in classrooms.  Internet usage is filtered in the classroom per the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) to provide online safety for all students.  Our goal is to integrate technology with all subject areas taught at Rockenbaugh for more effective learning.

Curriculum

The curriculum for computer lab will reflect some of the curriculum agendas of your child’s homeroom.  It is our goal to link lesson plans to promote  learning that is conducive to a complete understanding of the lesson.  In addition, the technology curriculum at Rockenbaugh is consistent with current state guidelines governing technology at all grade levels.  Skills learned include but are not limited to, learning basic computer terms, keyboarding, internet safety, and MS Office.  We will also utilize software programs that will assist students with their reading, math and language arts skills.
