EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENTAL REVIEW:
The Early Childhood Developmental Review Screening process for children ages 3-5 is scheduled once a month at the district’s Assessment Center located at 1101 N. Carroll Ave., Southlake, TX. The purpose of the Early Childhood Developmental Review screening is to determine if more in-depth, formal evaluation is necessary in any of the eligibility categories. The screenings are intended to involve input from parents, diagnostic staff including a Speech-Language Therapist, nurse, and depending on the student’s unique needs, additional personnel including but not limited to occupational therapist, physical therapist and psychologist.
Carroll ISD works in collaboration with Early Childhood Intervention of Tarrant County (ECI) to promote a smooth transition from 0-3 year-old services to Carroll ISD 3-21 year-old district services. Carroll ISD special services begin work with parents 90-120 days prior to the child’s third birthday to determine if there is special education eligibility. If the child is found eligible, the district works with parents to prepare a plan for serving the child coinciding with the child’s third birthday. The early childhood developmental review process includes the following areas:
- brief background history
- vision and hearing screening
- speech and language screening
