2018-2019 DMS Girls Welcome Letter
Parents of incoming 7th and 8th-grade Athletes,
Welcome to Dawson Middle School! In this letter, you will find information regarding forms that are required for DMS Athletics, information regarding DMS Athletics Apparel to be worn daily, and a few other valuable FAQ’s.
Every CISD student-athlete must have a cleared medical exam prior to try-outs and any participation. You may obtain a physical exam from your doctor but they need to be dated after April 17, 2018, and submitted to DMS before your student may participate in our Athletic Program.
CISD - Athletic Participation Release
CISD- Athletic Participation Packet
These forms, along with a physical form, can be found online on our Dawson Website (under the Athletics Tab). Please Note: Physical forms MUST BE DATED AFTER April 17, 2018. I will not accept any physicals before then. They can be turned in to the front office where there is an Athletic DropBox.
All workout attire for Dawson Girls Athletics needs to be black including sweats, shorts, and shirts. I would recommend 4-5 sets of clothes for every day of the week for the sake of laundry. There will be consequences for not being properly dressed out each day.
If you do not wish to purchase Dragon Gear through our Under Armour ordering window, we ask that the base of the shirts be black (if there is anything on the shirt it needs to be within our color scheme: Green, Black, White)and shorts need to be black based with same color scheme restrictions. If you have any questions on this please let us know.
What is the difference between Athletics and PE?
Athletics is much more demanding. It is focused on building our team sports that will continue on up to the High School. All students enrolled in Athletics are required to compete in at least 1 sport during our Fall Semester to receive their credit for the year. (Volleyball, Basketball, or Cross Country) Track is offered in the Spring season only.
What sports are cut sports?
Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. Cross Country is the only non-cut sport our Girls program offers.
