ESL Testing for Prekindergarten Eligibility
Students who qualify because they are unable to speak and comprehend English may be eligible to attend the Blended Prekindergarten Program free of charge. In order to qualify, a student must indicate that a language other than English is spoken in the home or spoken by the child most of the time on the Home Language Survey completed during the enrollment process.
Students who will be 3 Years Old by September 1st
For those students who completed the lottery process, English language proficiency testing will be conducted in mid-late July. If you are unable to attend the testing sessions as scheduled, an alternate testing date will be offered in late August.
For students who request enrollment after the lottery process has been completed, English language proficiency testing will be conducted if a spot becomes available in the Blended Prekindergarten Program. To join the waitlist, please complete the New Student Online Enrollment. All supporting documents and residency must be provided and approved before testing will be condeucted.
Students who will be 4 years old by September 1st
For students who complete the lottery process or register before July 15th, English language proficiency testing will be conducted in late July. If you are unable to attend the testing sessions as scheduled, an alternate testing date will be offered in late August.
Students who move into Carroll ISD throughout the school year and have turned 4 years of age prior to September 1st will be assessed to determine Prekindergarten eligibility on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
