  • Parents of Incoming 7th / 8th Grade Athletes, Welcome to Dawson Middle School!

Included in this letter you will find information regarding forms required for DMS Athletics, information regarding DMS Athletic Apparel to be worn daily, as well as some other FAQs that might be helpful.

Every CISD student-athlete must have a cleared medical exam prior to try-outs and participation. You may obtain a physical exam from your doctor but they need to be dated after May 1 and submitted to DMS before your student may participate in the athletic program.

    ALSO REQUIRED:

    • UIL Acknowledgement of Rules Form
    • CISD Athletic Participation Release
    • UIL Concussion Acknowledgement
    • Sport Specific Cautionary Statement

These forms, along with a physical form, can be found online at  http://southlakecarroll.rankonesport.com/

Please Note: Physical forms MUST BE DATED AFTER MAY 1, 2018. I will not accept any physicals before then. They can be turned into the front office in our drop box.

    DMS Athletic Apparel

We have a wonderful opportunity to purchase Dragon Gear through Under Armour at 30% off retail. This ordering window will close August 6th. The link for this window is: https://dawsonmsb18.itemorder.com

All workout gear needs to be black including sweats, shorts, and shirts. I would recommend 5 sets of clothes for every day of the week for the sake of laundry. There will be consequences for not being properly dressed out each day.

If you do not wish to purchase Dragon Gear through our Under Armour ordering window, we ask the shirts/shorts to not have large logos. Logos need to be within our color schemed 4 colors (green, grey, black, and white).  If you have questions on this, please let us know.

    FAQs

What is the difference between Athletics and PE?

Athletics is much more demanding. It is focused on building our team sports that will continue on up to the high school. All students enrolled in Athletics are required to compete in at least 1 sport.

    What sports are cut sports?

Basketball, volleyball, and track (time qualifying sport) are cut sports. Football and cross country are non-cut sports.
