  • Secondary Gifted and Talented Services

    Grades 7-12: Gifted and Talented students in grades 7 through 12 are served through GT English Language Arts, Pre-AP Math, Science, Social Studies, GT Pre-AP English, GT Pre-AP Biology, GT Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP GT English III, AP GT Physics, and AP GT English IV.

    Grades 7-8: The annual identification process of gifted and talented students has opened at DMS and CMS.  Parent Referral and Testing Registration must be filled out here.  Current CISD students will need to register by July 31st, and new students can register up until August 4th.

    Students will be assessed initially using the CogAT and ITBS tests.  There are no preparation materials available for these assessments.  In addition to the testing, students entering grades 7th and 8th who have not yet been identified as gifted and talented must be nominated by a parent, teacher, counselor, community member, or themselves.

    Grades 9-12: The annual identification process of gifted and talented students has opened.  There are two testing dates available to CHS and CSHS students this year, June 11,2019 for current CISD students and August 6, 2019 for students new to CISD.

    • Students must be signed up on the Google form and a referral form below which must be completed and turned in no later than May 9, 2019 for current CISD students. Test date will be June 11, 2019 and will take place at CHS.
    • Students must be signed up on the Google form and a referral form below which must be completed and turned in no later than July 31, 2019 for students new to CISD.  Test date will be August 6, 2019 and will take place at CHS.

    Transfer Students: Transfer students who have previously received Gifted and Talented services will be considered for services in CISD within one month from the date of registration or within one month of the first day of school if registration occurs in the summer. Gifted and Talented records will be requested from the previous school to determine if additional assessment is required.
