Q: I am trying to record a video on my iPad and the option is either grayed out or unavailable.
A: The iPad will not allow you to record a video (using the native Camera app or any other recording tool such as in Seesaw) while you are actively participating in a Zoom call. You must leave the Zoom call, record and upload your video, and then rejoin the Zoom call if necessary.

Q: I am having trouble accessing iStation, Reflex Math, Imagine Math, Membean, Classkick.
A: Please email your student’s teacher for access issues for these platforms.
Q: Can I use a second monitor with the district laptop? How do I set it up?
A: Yes, just select the Windows Key + P, then select Extend.
Q: How do I install LockDown Browser on a student laptop?
A: If you have a district issued laptop, LockDown Browser should already be installed. (If it is not, please submit a ticket in TechHelp.) If you have a personal laptop, you can use one of these links to install the browser.
Q: When I try to access a Google file, it tells me “You need access”. How do I get access?
A: First, make sure that the Chrome account you are using is the student’s @southlakecarroll.edu account. You can check this by clicking on the avatar in the top right corner of your browser next to the three dots. If this is not the case, you will need to sign in to your Carroll ISD account. If you are signed in to your Carroll ISD account, contact the teacher that sent you the file and ask for access.
Q: My student received a Google Slides file. How do I put the file in presentation mode on an iPad so I can easily access the links?
A: In the top right corner, tap the play button. Then tap Present on this device. You should then be able to click links and play videos within the slides presentation.
Q: How do I print from the school laptop at home?
A: On a district-issued laptop, click on the search icon to search for programs and settings. Type printers in the search and select Printers & Scanners. Click +Add a printer or scanner. If your home printer is on the same WIFI network as the laptop, it will appear in the list. Select and install the printer. (If you cannot install a printer from home, please submit a ticket in TechHelp.)
Q: How do I print from the iPad at home?
A: To print a picture from the Camera app, tap the share arrow button and select Print. Then select your printer. To print a Google file, tap the three dots, tap Share & export, and Print. Then select your printer.
Q: When trying to access my student’s class Zoom meeting, it says “Please wait for the host to start this meeting.” What should I do?
A: First check to see if class should be in session. Then make sure you are using the correct meeting ID or meeting link. If your student still can’t get in, you will need to contact your student’s teacher.
Q: Where do I get the Zoom meeting password and ID?
A: You will get your student’s Zoom meeting ID and password from your student’s teacher. For elementary students, it will be sent as an announcement in Seesaw. For secondary students, it will be posted in each of their Canvas courses on the homepage.
Q: How do I know if I have logged my student into Zoom correctly?
A: Once the student has logged into Zoom, select Account Profile from the menu on the left. You should see Account Type: Education and Account Name: Carroll ISD. On an iPad, within the Zoom app, Select Settings. You should see BASIC next to your student’s name and district email address.
Q: When logging into my student’s Zoom account, it asked me to confirm their email address. What do I do?
A: In order to confirm their email address follow these steps:
- Select Confirm your email address.
- In a new tab, visit gmail.com
- Login to the student’s gmail account
- Click the link to confirm the email address
