FAQs

Where can I get a list of available classes?
The Carroll High School (9-10) and Carroll Senior High (11-12) Counseling websites have lists of courses. Students can also stop by the counseling office for a print-out copy.

How do I request my classes?
Students will request their classes through Skyward. Rising 9th grade's course requests will be taken from their Career Plan. Rising 10th-12th submit Course Requests. Tutorials can be found on the Carroll High School (9-10) and Carroll Senior High (11-12) Counseling websites.

When will I know my schedule and teachers? 
Schedules will be available in August. 

How do I know what the pre-requisites are for each class?
Students and parents should refer to the Academic Planning Guide (APG) for course sequencing and prerequisites. The APG is available to view here. Make wise choices! 

How do I know if what I am requesting is what I need for graduation? 
Counselors will review each student's course requests. They will meet with each to student to make sure the selected courses are in alignment with graduation requirements. Please view the Course Selection Presentations on the  Carroll High School (9-10) or Carroll Senior High (11-12) Counseling websites for an overview of graduation requirements. 

Will I get all of the classes I request?
Counselors may need to make adjustments to student schedules as needed. Adjustments may be necessary due to constraints of the master schedule, course prerequisites, class size,  and/or staffing changes. 

I have an IEP. How do I create my schedule?
A caseworker will work with the student and the counselor to find the student's required classes and desired electives for the next school year. Counselors and caseworkers will create the schedule for students with an IEP in order to meet each student's specific needs.

Tryouts (for sports and other clubs)...what if I don't make it? 
Students will create their schedule as if they are going to make the sport/club they are interested in. Students will be able to request alternate courses and will have the option of substituting those classes in the event that they do not make the sport/club of their choosing.
