To provide an educational environment that recognizes the unique intellectual, academic, and social and emotional needs and talents of gifted students.
Gifted and Talented Program Philosophy Statement
The Carroll Independent School District faculty and staff believe that special provisions should be provided to accommodate the needs of gifted and talented students in all educational situations and settings that may be categorized as accelerated and/or enriched.
Program Goal
In Carroll ISD, our goal is to develop the talents of our gifted students by examining the curriculum through an inter-disciplinary approach. We want our students to relate the experiences of the classroom to the realities of the real world. GT students will become critical and compassionate thinkers, lifelong learners, and informed participants in an ever-changing global world.
GT K-6 Program Components
- Provides an opportunity for learners to construct meaning, primarily through concept-driven inquiry.
- Traditional academic subjects are part of the program, but emphasis will be placed on the interrelatedness of knowledge and skills through a transdisciplinary program of inquiry.
Program Design
- Provide instructional services to gifted students in multiple settings including appropriate classroom differentiation in addition to the pull-out Quest program. (Elementary Level)
- Provide gifted students rigorous and engaging learning opportunities in the core subject areas. (Grades 5-12)
