Digital Resources Approval

Digital Resources Review Committee

In order to purchase any digital resource, or to use any digital resource or web 2.0 online tool (including free sites where students login), the resource must first be reviewed and approved by a collaborative committee. This allows us to best achieve safety for students, staff, and information.

The review process is consistent with surrounding districts and provides students, parents, and teachers with information regarding the digital resources CISD uses for instruction.

Approval Process

1. Help Request
Throughout the year, teachers may request approval of digital resources by submitting a help request in TechHelp. Only approved apps will be installed on student devices. **Please submit one resource per help request in order to avoid confusion.

2. Product Review
The committee reviews the information shared, including items like, whether advertisements are present and COPPA compliance. The Digital Resources Review Committee (with representatives from Curriculum & Instruction, Special Programs, and Instructional Technology Engineering Departments) will evaluate each app, website, and online resource using this rubric from HISD.

3. Board Approval
If the Digital Resource is for instructional use, board policy requires it to be board approved before it can be purchased regardless of funding source.

4. Purchase Order
The necessary steps listed above should be completed before a PO is created.

Current Approved Resources
The purpose of the spreadsheets linked below is to list the digital tools that can be utilized by staff and/or students. It is recommended that teachers fully preview any content before using it with students. Be sure to exclude any lessons that include banned concepts of HB 3979 and SB 3.
