What security measures are in place?
The center will maintain a secure environment through controlled entry access, sign-in and sign-out procedures, and trained staff. Employee Parents will use their badge to access the childcare lobby and office area. Authorized individuals for pickup will be verified through Raptor and issued an ID badge, which must be presented to staff at the time of pickup
Do I need to provide Immunization records?
Health regulations are determined by the Health and Human Services and the State Department of Health. You may view the immunization requirements here.
- Updated immunization records must be submitted when new immunizations are given. A state approved exemption form is the only alternative form of documentation Little Dragons Staff Childcare Center can accept if you choose to not have your child vaccinated. Immunization records MUST have a stamp or signature from the child’s doctor or doctor’s office.
- A written statement of health, from the healthcare professional who has examined the child within the past year, indicating the child is able to take part in the child care program.
What are the health policies?
The center follows strict health and hygiene protocols, including regular sanitization and handwashing routines. Sick children must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
Will the childcare providers assist with toilet training?
At Little Dragons Childcare Center, we support and guide each child through the toilet training process in our 2-year-old classroom. Our approach consists of three stages:
1. Introduction: We begin by familiarizing children with the concept of using the toilet. This involves discussing the process and encouraging them to sit on the toilet, with or without a diaper, to build comfort and understanding.
2. Practice: As children become more aware, we help them associate the sensation of a wet diaper with the need for a change. This awareness is crucial for recognizing when it's time to use the toilet.
3. Mastery: In this final stage, we recommend the use of cloth training pants and/or rubber pants. Children are encouraged to use the term "restroom" and are guided with phrases like, "It's time to go to the restroom to use the toilet." This consistent language helps reinforce the routine.
Parental Support: Consistency between home and the childcare center is vital for successful toilet training. We encourage parents to follow similar routines and language at home. Collaboration ensures a smoother transition for your child.
What to Bring:
- A weather-appropriate change of clothes, including socks and shoes, should be provided daily.
- Soiled clothing and training supplies will be sent home in a sealed plastic bag. Please check your child’s belongings daily for items that need to be washed.
Hygiene Practices: All staff and children are required to wash their hands after each diapering, toilet training, or restroom use to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
By working together, we can make the toilet training experience positive and successful for your child.
Are staff trained in CPR and First Aid?
Yes, all childcare workers will receive CPR, First Aid, and emergency response training as required by Texas HHS.
What happens in case of an emergency?
The center has an emergency preparedness plan, and parents will be notified immediately if their child needs urgent medical attention.
How will the staff be screened?
Little Dragon employees are CISD employees and must pass a criminal background check, reference checks, and DFPS registry check as part of the interview process. All caregivers (including subs) are required to have 2 background checks. One background check is through HR, and the other is through Daycare Licensing. Not only are they checked for normal FBI background investigations, but the Licensing checks for any reports from previous daycares of any reported misconduct.
What training will the staff be provided?
All training is aligned with the Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) childcare licensing standards. According to the Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers, caregivers are required to complete the following areas annually:
- Infant/Child CPR and AED
- First Aid
- Procedures for handling emergencies
- Child abuse prevention and reporting on an annual basis
Additionally, all caregivers must obtain at least 24 clock hours of training each year in the areas of:
