Barbara Yelton Named Dragon of the Year at Carroll ISD End of Year Awards

Carroll ISD proudly honored Barbara Yelton, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees, as the 2024–25 Dragon of the Year at the May 15th End of Year Awards ceremony held at the Carroll Senior High School Fine Arts Complex.

Each year, the Dragon of the Year award is presented to the individual who best exemplifies the District’s Core Values: Excellence, Integrity and Character, Respectful Relationships, Curiosity and Innovation, and Honest Communication and Service. This year’s honoree was an easy choice. With decades of heartfelt service and a legacy of quiet leadership, Barbara Yelton has long been a cornerstone of Carroll ISD.

Ms. Yelton has served in multiple roles across the district, always bringing a compassionate spirit, meticulous attention to detail, and dedication to the work of public education. Her colleagues describe her as the “heartbeat of the district office”—someone who not only ensures operations run smoothly but does so with grace, humility, and an ever-present willingness to help.

Whether coordinating vital communications, supporting the work of the School Board, or simply offering a kind word to a fellow staff member, Ms. Yelton models what it means to be a true Dragon. Her tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on staff, students, families, and the broader Southlake community.

“Barbara exemplifies what it means to serve with heart,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn. “She is deeply respected and immensely appreciated. It is our honor to recognize her as our Dragon of the Year.”

Congratulations, Ms. Barbara Yelton, and thank you for your remarkable service to Carroll ISD. You are, and always will be, a treasured part of Dragon Nation.
