Carroll Athletics Named 2026 Recipient of THSADA Texas Cup

Carroll ISD is proud to announce that Carroll Athletics has been named the inaugural Class 6A recipient of the Texas Cup, a new statewide award presented by the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA) recognizing the top overall athletic program in Texas.

The announcement was made June 8 during the THSADA State Conference. The Texas Cup honors the highest-achieving athletic programs across Texas based on team success in UIL-sanctioned sports. Schools earn points through district, regional, and state competition, with points increasing as teams advance through postseason play. One school from each UIL classification is recognized annually.

As the first-ever Class 6A recipient, Carroll Athletics earned the distinction through outstanding performances across multiple sports during the 2025-2026 school year, showcasing the depth, consistency, and excellence of Dragon athletics.

“This is a tremendous honor for Carroll Athletics and our entire Dragon community,” said Jenny Suitor, Carroll ISD Director of Athletics. “To be named the inaugural Class 6A Texas Cup champion reflects the extraordinary commitment of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, support staff, and families. This recognition is the result of countless hours of hard work, dedication, and teamwork, and it speaks to the culture of excellence that exists throughout our athletic program.”

Established by THSADA, the Texas Cup was created to recognize and celebrate the achievements of Texas high school athletic programs and highlight the important role athletics play in the educational experience of students across the state. The award is based on overall team achievement in UIL-sanctioned sports and is designed to honor schools that consistently demonstrate excellence across their entire athletic program.

Founded in 1971, THSADA serves as the principal advocate for athletic administrators throughout Texas and is one of the largest state athletic administrator associations in the nation.

The inaugural Texas Cup championship adds another milestone to Carroll ISD's proud tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, fine arts, and student achievement.

Carroll ISD Board President Cam Bryan expressed his pride in the Dragon athletics program.

"We've had an incredible year in Dragon sports," said Bryan. "Between multiple state championships and many top three finishes and state championship runs, Dragon athletics continues to set the standard and we could not be more proud of our student athletes and the hard work they put in day after day, all year round. Congrats to Carroll Athletics on this well-deserved honor!"
