Carroll ISD Claims Record-Setting 10th Lone Star Cup Championship

Carroll ISD Claims Record-Setting 10th Lone Star Cup Championship

For the 10th time in District history, Carroll ISD has earned the UIL Lone Star Cup, further cementing Dragon Nation's reputation as one of the premier all-around school programs in Texas.

The 2025-26 Lone Star Cup marks Carroll ISD's 10th championship overall, more than any other Class 6A school district in Texas history. The Dragons also set a new Class 6A record by scoring 132 points, surpassing the previous record of 131 points, which was also held by Carroll ISD.

Carroll finished 20 points ahead of second-place Flower Mound, which accumulated 112 points. The Lone Star Cup recognizes excellence across the full spectrum of University Interscholastic League competition, rewarding success in athletics, academics, music, fine arts and other extracurricular programs throughout the school year.

"This achievement represents what makes Carroll ISD special," said Board of Trustees Secretary Christy Stacy. "The Lone Star Cup is not won by one team, one program or one campus. It is earned through the collective efforts of students, teachers, coaches, directors, and families who are committed to excellence in everything they do."

The record-setting championship was fueled by outstanding performances across numerous UIL programs and reflects Carroll ISD's commitment to excellence in every area of student achievement.

State Championships and Top Finish Contributions

Carroll captured state championships in volleyball and boys cross country, adding to the District's long tradition of athletic excellence. The Lady Dragons volleyball team made school history by winning the program's first UIL state championship, while the boys cross country team claimed its seventh state title in a row for Dragon Nation.

Additional state-level success came from girls golf, which finished second in Texas, boys wrestling, which earned a third-place finish at the state meet, and boys swim and dive, which also achieved a third place state finish. Carroll student-athletes also advanced deep into postseason competition across multiple sports, contributing to the District's record-setting performance.

The Lone Star Cup, however, represents more than success in a single area. It recognizes districts that cultivate excellence across a broad range of student opportunities, and Carroll students continued to distinguish themselves throughout the year in academics, athletics and fine arts.

Dragon Nation Excels Across All Disciplines

Carroll students once again excelled in UIL academic competition, earning district honors and advancing competitors through multiple levels of UIL contest participation. From mathematics and science to journalism, speech and debate, students demonstrated the intellectual curiosity, preparation and determination that are hallmarks of a Carroll education.

The District's fine arts programs also continued their tradition of excellence through performances, competitions and exhibitions. Musicians, performers and artists represented Dragon Nation with distinction throughout the year, reinforcing the well-rounded educational experience that has long defined Carroll ISD.

The breadth of Carroll's success is what makes this year's accomplishment particularly remarkable. The Lone Star Cup rewards schools that consistently perform at a high level across multiple disciplines, and Carroll's record-breaking point total reflects a culture of excellence that extends throughout the District.

"Winning a 10th Lone Star Cup and setting a new Class 6A scoring record speaks to the culture that exists throughout Carroll ISD," said Board President Cam Bryan. "This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, the commitment of our teachers, coaches, directors and sponsors, and the support of families who encourage excellence in every pursuit. We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to this historic accomplishment."

Carroll Athletics Also Earns Texas Cup

The championship also comes during a historic year for Dragon Nation. In addition to claiming the Lone Star Cup, Carroll Athletics earned the inaugural THSADA Texas Cup, awarded to the state's top overall athletic program.

From classrooms and competition stages to concert halls and championship venues, Carroll students continued to demonstrate the pursuit of excellence that has become synonymous with Dragon Nation.

Ten Lone Star Cups. A record 132 points. And a standard of excellence that continues to set Carroll ISD apart.

The 2025-26 Lone Star Cup championship serves as a testament to the dedication, talent and hard work of students and staff across the District and reinforces Carroll ISD's position as one of the top school districts in Texas.
