CISD 101: Did You Know? Teacher & Staff Raises Approved for 2025-26

CISD 101: Did You Know? Teacher & Staff Raises Approved for 2025-26

Carroll ISD is proud to continue investing in its greatest asset - our people. Thanks in part to new state legislation, the District is proud to provide raises for teachers and select support staff in 2025 - 2026. While this legislation offers an encouraging step forward, it does not apply to all public education employees, and there is still much work to be done to ensure competitive compensation across the board.

This effort reflects Carroll ISD's continued commitment to attracting and retaining top-tier talent through strategic investments in compensation, benefits, and work environment.

Teacher raises are based on experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience: $500 raise
  • 3-4 years of experience: $2,500 raise
  • 5+ years of experience: $5,000 raise

The new starting teacher salary for 2025-26 is $60,200.

Some categories of support staff are also seeing meaningful pay increases, including:

  • Bus Aides: 15%+ starting pay raise
  • Custodians and Child Nutrition: 7%+ starting pay raise
  • Grounds, Maintenance, Lifeguards, and Swim Instructors: 6%+ starting pay raise
  • Campus Support Staff: 5% starting pay raise

The starting pay for bus drivers is now $23/hour, and for Special Education paraprofessionals in specialized programs, it ranges from $15.36 to $16.84/hour.

Stipends for Special Programs

To further support high-needs roles, CISD offers annual stipends for special education staff:

  • Teacher, Self-Contained: $3,500
  • Teacher, Resource/Inclusion: $2,500
  • Dyslexia Therapist: $2,000
  • Paraprofessional, Self-Contained: $2,000
  • Paraprofessional, Resource/Inclusion: $1,000

More Than Just a Paycheck

Working at Carroll ISD also comes with valuable benefits that support work-life balance, including:

  • Free Pre-K for children of CISD teachers
  • Discounted childcare options from infancy through after-school care for all CISD employees
  • A supportive, world-class work environment

Carroll ISD is a TEA  A-rated district, consistently ranked #1 in DFW by Niche.com, and a 9-time Lone Star Cup Champion. These recognitions reflect not only student success and a supportive and engaged community, but the dedication of the staff who make it possible.

Looking Ahead

To help address the state's shortfall in providing raises for all public education employees, the Board of Trustees is considering a Voter Approval Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) for the November 2025 ballot. If approved by voters, this local funding measure could provide the resources needed to expand raises to every CISD employee in the years ahead.

"Our teachers and staff are the heart of Carroll ISD," said Carroll ISD Board President Cam Bryan. "On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are thankful to be able to provide these raises despite limited resources, but we know there's still work to do. These increases reflect our gratitude for the incredible people who make CISD exceptional, and we remain committed to finding ways to further support all employees in the future."
