Engineering Excellence: Dragon Robotics Delivers Standout Performance at State Championship

Once again, Dragon Robotics advanced to the UIL State Championship, coming within one match of capturing another state title.

The Carroll ISD Robotics program sent two teams to Houston earlier this month to compete in the 6A UIL VEX Robotics State Championship. Facing the very best teams in Texas, both squads delivered outstanding performances on the state’s biggest stage.

“This group of students showed incredible resilience throughout a long and challenging competition day,” said Coach Leah Schwedler. “I am so very proud of the way they competed, supported one another, and represented Carroll ISD.”

Team 7110A battled all the way to the tie-breaking final match of the tournament, narrowly missing the state championship and finishing as State Runner-Up. Their success during a demanding day of competition showcased not only advanced technical skill, but also determination, teamwork, and poise under pressure.

Team 7110H also made an impressive showing, advancing to the quarterfinal round of eliminations. Together, both teams demonstrated the depth, consistency, and strength of Carroll ISD’s robotics program.

Carroll ISD teams have claimed the UIL state robotics championship for the last four years.

Beyond trophies and rankings, robotics plays a powerful role in preparing students for the future. Early exposure to hands-on STEM learning is one of the most effective ways to engage students and set them on a long-term path toward success in college and technical careers. Through robotics programming, students develop real-world problem-solving skills in a competitive, fast-paced, and engaging environment—skills that extend far beyond the competition arena.

Carroll ISD’s strong performance at the VEX State Championship also contributed valuable points toward the district’s Lone Star Cup standings.

Congratulations to both teams, their coaches, and their families on an exceptional achievement.

This Saturday, the same students will host the Texas Region 5 Championship Tournament, which will qualify 12 teams for the VEX Robotics World Championship. Carroll ISD will have three teams competing. The VEX World Championship will be held in St. Louis this April. Carroll Dragons have qualified for the VEX World Championship every year since 2015.

Good luck to our incredible Robotics teams.
