Good & Green: Celebrating Two Legendary Dragon Coaches 

This month’s episode of Good & Green highlights the incredible impact of two of Carroll ISD’s most accomplished coaches—Matt Colvin and Larry Vucan—whose leadership continues to shape the legacy of Dragon athletics.

Coach Matt Colvin, head coach of the Lady Dragon Soccer team, recently earned his 500th career win, all with Carroll ISD. Over the past 25 years, his teams have secured five regional championships and three state titles, but his influence extends far beyond the stat sheet. Coach Colvin is known for building confidence, character, and a championship mindset in every player he coaches.

Coach Larry Vucan, head coach of Dragon Baseball, is no stranger to the winner’s circle either. Earlier this season, he reached his 400th career win, adding another milestone to a storied career that includes five state championships. In 2022-23, he was named National Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association, recognizing his excellence in leadership, player development, and program success.

Both coaches are known not only for their impressive records but also for the life lessons they instill in their athletes—preparing them to succeed on the field and beyond.
