Dr. Glenn's Student Leadership Council Launches First Class

Learn what it means to be a leader from the CEO of CISD!

That's the opportunity for a select group of Carrol Dragon Juniors and Seniors who've been accepted into the first class of the Superintendent's Student Leadership Council. Dr. Jeremy Glenn launched the program this fall for CSHS students interested in learning  leadership concepts from his perspective.

"This program allows me to pour some of the best lessons of my career into our Dragons," said Dr. Glenn, "it provides a great platform to foster servant leadership and executive-level skills in the next generation of leaders."

In addition to Dr. Glenn, SLC members will hear from top leaders in business and the community. The program is designed to inspire Carroll students to become more proactive, productive and engaged leaders, regardless of their career aspirations.

Students who complete the year-long program will receive: (1) a total of 25 community service hours, (2) a letter of recommendation from the Superintendent and (3) an SLC honor cord at graduation. "The most important take-away is that these students will start thinking of themselves as real community leaders," said Dr. Glenn, "and they are."

The Student Leadership Council will meet monthly with Dr. Glenn and pursue leadership and community service projects, as well as innovative learning opportunities. The SLC will be highly interactive and will allow each aspiring Carroll student leader to hone his or her communication and strategic thinking skills.

SLC membership is by application only. To be eligible, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA, serve in at least one additional student organization or outside activity, complete an annual summer leadership book study, attend at least 90% of all SLC training events and participate in at least one SLC community service project.

For more information, students should contact the Office of the Superintendent at (817) 949.8222.
