Megha Kadiyala wins Best Actress in a Musical
Carroll Theatre has another star to celebrate this season.
Megha Kadiyala earned Best Lead Actress in a Musical at the 25th Annual Betty Buckley Awards for her outstanding performance in Carroll's Production of Hadestown: Teen Edition.
The Betty Lynn Buckley Awards recognize excellence in high school musical theater productions in Tarrant and surrounding counties. Named after Tony Award-winning actress and Fort Worth native Betty Buckley, the awards have been presented annually since 2000.
Hadestown is a modern musical that tells a version of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The show premiered on Broadway in 2019 and won eight Tonys, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation, modified for family audiences.
The Carroll version of the show was performed in September 2024. Out of 41 eligible musicals, only 6 students were nominated for this prestigious award, and Megha’s talent truly stood out. Carroll Theatre is immensely proud of her accomplishment. "Megha's accomplishments truly embody the spirit of excellence in both Academics and the Fine Arts," said Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn.
Megha is also a National Merit Scholar, a Gold Stole Honor Grad and a TMEA All-State Choir honoree.
Congratulations, Megha!
