Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon: Aspen Meadows returns to Carroll ISD

She's a proud Carroll Kindergrad, a former Emerald Belle Captain, and a former Green Jacket. Now, Aspen Meadows can add two more Carroll titles to the list: Carroll Dance Director and Teacher! She was recently hired as the Director of the Dragon Gems Middle School Dance Team and as a 7th Grade English Language teacher at Dawson Middle School.

"I'm so excited to be back," Aspen said recently, "it's an honor to continue the legacy in the District that raised me."

It's equally exciting for Aspen's mother, Sherri Meadows, a 30-year veteran of Carroll ISD. "I am so proud of Aspen and her preparation for the new school year," Sherri said. "She is enormously talented and can't wait to pour her energy and skills into those young Dragons!" Sherri is currently an MTSS Specialist in Special Programs and has lived in Southlake and the surrounding area for most of her life.

Both mother and daughter are devoted Longhorns. Aspen graduated in May from U.T. Austin with highest honors in Education and a minor in Communication Studies. She was also a member of the Texas Pom Squad. "I love the camaraderie that Longhorns share, she said. "Being in Austin for those four years was a wonderful experience and I know it's prepared me well for a career in education."

She joins an exceptional team at Dawson, and will step into the Director's Chair to oversee the Middle School Dance Team, made up of 7th and 8th grade dancers from Dawson and Carroll Middle School. The squad is dedicated to preparing young dancers to audition for the Emerald Belles. "She's going to be an incredible addition to our team," said CMS Principal Nikki Leonard. "As a Kindergrad, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role as a teacher and Dance Director. We are lucky to have her!"
