Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon: Cameron Haddock Returns to Coach Carroll Wrestlers

Cameron Haddock spent four years as a Carroll Dragon wrestler, eventually winning the State Championship as a Senior in 2018. This summer, he returned to Carroll ISD as an Algebra 2 teacher and Assistant Wrestling Coach.

"It's incredible to return to this program and serve as a mentor and coach for students who are wearing the same Carroll Dragon green," he said. "My wrestling and academic careers have really come full circle."

His former Head Coach Joseph Hathaway is now his boss. "Cameron is a real competitor and an excellent role model for our student athletes," he said. "He is young enough to relate to them and also has the experience of knowing what it's like to compete at the highest level of our sport."

Cameron began his teaching career at Little Elm High School before joining the staff at Carroll Senior High.

As a high school student, he served as the Captain of the Carroll Wresting team for two years and went to the state finals two years in a row. In addition to the State Championship, he was named an All American in wrestling his senior year. He also wrestled in college at Utah Valley University, where he was an Academic All-American and a Big 12 Championship qualifier.

"I'm excited to help these young men develop the skills and stamina required to be the best," he said. "And to protect the tradition."
