Popsicles, Poise and Dragon Pride

Popsicles, Poise and Dragon Pride

This Halloween, the cheers were extra loud along the sidelines at Dragon Stadium for one of Carroll ISD’s most spirited students.

Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn told High School freshman Claire M. she'd earned her Letterman Jacket during the game, in recognition of her character, enthusiasm, and Dragon pride as part of Carroll ISD’s Special Programs Department. Claire was elated.

“Everyone knows Claire,” said CHS Special Education Department Head Lauren Hein. “She's adored on campus for her character and charisma." Hein says Claire’s positivity shines through in everything she does. "She’s a charmer!"

Dr. Glenn's announcement came during the Varsity Football team's last game of the regular season, a victory over Keller Central to cap an undefeated season. The win gave Claire and her fellow student even more to celebrate.

She has become a beloved presence in Dragon Nation, known across the CHS campus for her warm smile, magnetic personality, and boundless school spirit. This season, she’s been a familiar face on the sidelines, helping Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn with one of his favorite traditions - throwing more than 1,000 popsicles into the stands during every home football game.

“Claire is an incredible ambassador for Dragon Nation,” said Dr. Glenn. “She’s been a great partner this season, helping me throw popsicles to her fellow Dragons. Claire represents the very best of Dragon Nation. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and her willingness to give back to others shows the true heart of a Dragon."

Claire and her family moved to Southlake six years ago, and she has been making her mark ever since. She is an active competitor in Special Olympics, playing basketball, running track, and swimming for the Dragons. She also shares her creativity through choir and art, and her school spirit through every smile and high-five.

Earning her Letterman Jacket marks a milestone in Claire’s Dragon journey, one that celebrates not just athletic or academic achievement, but the heart and joy she brings to the entire community.

"Congratulations, Claire!" said Carroll ISD Board of Trustees President Cam Bryan. "Dragon Nation is so proud of you!"
