Shatina Lewis Named Principal of Carroll Senior High School
Carroll ISD is proud to announce Shatina Lewis as the newly appointed principal of Carroll Senior High School, effective July 1. Ms. Lewis brings with her a wealth of leadership experience and deep-rooted connections within the Dragon community—having served students across multiple campuses in her distinguished career.
Ms. Lewis steps into the role following the departure of Principal Ryan Wilson, who has accepted a new leadership position as Principal of Boswell High School. We thank Mr. Wilson for his years of service and steadfast commitment to the students and staff of Carroll ISD, and we wish him continued success in this next chapter of his career.
With more than a decade of service in Carroll ISD, Ms. Lewis has built a legacy defined by her passion for students and her commitment to excellence. Most recently, she has served as principal of Carroll Middle School (CMS) for over three years. Under her leadership, CMS has continued its tradition of academic rigor, strong community partnerships, and a nurturing school environment that supports every student.
Prior to her time at CMS, Ms. Lewis was the assistant principal at Dawson Middle School from 2018-2022. She first joined the district in 2014 as an English teacher at Carroll Senior High School (CSHS), where she taught both AP/GT and on-level senior English. She also coached girls' basketball and quickly became a beloved educator known for her high expectations, relentless support, and personal investment in every student’s success.
“Returning to CSHS as principal is deeply meaningful,” said Lewis. “This campus shaped me as a teacher and leader, and I’m honored to serve the students, staff, and families who make it so special. I’m excited to build on our tradition of excellence while helping our students grow into confident, compassionate leaders.”
Ms. Lewis is widely respected by colleagues for her moral clarity, authentic leadership, and dedication to teacher development. As one teacher once said, “She has guided me through countless teaching and life dilemmas with a strong moral compass.”
Carroll ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn shared his confidence in the appointment: “Ms. Lewis is a proven leader with a passion for student achievement, staff collaboration, and community partnership. Her experience, energy, and heart make her the perfect fit to protect the tradition of CSHS.”
