Southlake Teams Headed to World Finals in Odyssey of the Mind

Several Carroll Dragon Odyssey of the Mind teams excelled at the recent State Championship and will represent our District at the World Finals.

Odyssey of the Mind, or OM, is a non-UIL problem-solving program in which student teams present their solution to a predefined challenge requiring many months to complete. The contest involves writing, design, construction, and even a theatrical performance. A spontaneous portion of the competition requires them to solve a problem they have never seen. The students are divided into Divisions by academic grade, from third up to seniors in college.

The State Championship was held March 29 at San Jacinto College in Houston. The Eubanks team took first place and the Carroll Elementary team took second in the 'Amazing Race' competition. In the 'Save My Structure' contest, Carroll Middle and Carroll High both took first place in their divisions. In the 'Astronomical Odyssey' category, Carroll High also took second place. All five of these teams will compete in the World Championship in May at Michigan State University. Eight other Carroll ISD teams competed and placed in other categories.
