Stephanie Martin Named Principal of Carroll Middle School

Carroll ISD is pleased to announce Stephanie Martin as the new principal of Carroll Middle School (CMS) for the 2025–26 school year. With more than 20 years in education, prior experience as a principal, and a strong start during her first year at CMS, Mrs. Martin brings a student-centered leadership style rooted in academic excellence, staff development, and meaningful community engagement.

Mrs. Martin steps into the role following Shatina Lewis, who was recently named principal of Carroll Senior High School. “I could not be more enthused about Mrs. Martin becoming principal at CMS,” said Ms. Lewis. “She is an accomplished educator who is devoted to that campus, its students, and the community it serves. She will be outstanding.” As Mrs. Martin transitions into this new leadership role, she looks forward to building on the strong foundation of success that defines our Dragons. 

The 2024–25 school year marked her first year in Carroll ISD, where she served as the CMS assistant principal. Reflecting on the experience, Mrs. Martin shared: “This has been the best year of my career. The close-knit community, supportive families, devoted teachers, and incredible students make Carroll such a great place to be. I am so proud and honored to be able to continue the tradition of excellence at Carroll Middle School.”

A proud undergraduate of Texas Woman’s University, Mrs. Martin earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University–Commerce. She began her career as a soccer and volleyball coach and a health science teacher—quickly discovering her passion for working with students and helping them grow both in and out of the classroom. Prior to joining Carroll ISD, Mrs. Martin spent seven years as an assistant principal and one and a half years as a principal at International Leadership of Texas in Keller.

As her first hire, she has selected Austin Robinson, a social studies teacher at Dawson Middle School, to succeed her as assistant principal. Mr. Robinson has taught at DMS for the past five years and was recently named the 2024–25 Teacher of the Year.
