UIL Academic Students Advance to State

Carroll ISD’s UIL Academic team delivered an outstanding performance at the UIL Region Meet at Walnut Grove High School, finishing third overall among 59 competing schools. The Dragons also celebrated five students qualifying for the UIL State Meet in Austin, where they will compete May 18-19 after earning top-three finishes in their events.

The Computer Science team had a strong showing, earning second place overall behind impressive individual performances from Benjamin Conley and Connor Thompson, who placed second and third respectively in the competition.

In Current Issues and Events, the Dragons captured third place as a team, while Riya Mathews earned an individual third-place finish to advance to State.

Carroll’s journalism program continued its tradition of excellence by winning the team championship for the third consecutive year. Nandita Shetty and Tobi Falaki both qualified for the State Meet and will each compete in three events. Nandita earned first place in headline writing, second in news writing, and third in copy editing, while Tobi placed second in copy editing and fifth in news writing.

The Region Meet also featured strong performances from students competing in mathematics, science, ready writing, and number sense events, showcasing the depth and talent of Carroll ISD’s UIL Academic program.

We would like to thank the UIL Academic coaches for the countless hours they dedicate after school and on weekends to help prepare students for competition and support their continued success.
